Trump endorses Rubio for re-election, praises him as a “tireless advocate”

Former President Trump issued a statement Friday (April 9) through the Save America PAC to support Senator Marco Rubio’s bid for re-election to the Senate in 2022. Trump praised Rubio as a longtime “tireless advocate” for the people of Florida.

In a statement provided to Newsmax Friday morning, Trump said, “I am honored to give my full and complete support to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio” and “Marco has been a tireless advocate for the people of Florida, fighting for tax cuts, supporting our Second Amendment, our military and our veterans. military and our veterans, a strong national defense, and all the forgotten American men and women.”

He added that Rubio “worked with me to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs, to help our small businesses grow, and with his help we achieved the lowest unemployment rates for women, African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian-Americans and virtually all Americans. Together, we’ve worked closely with the Cuban and Venezuelan communities and made tremendous progress.”

Trump noted that Rubio also served as chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, where he “ruled on the phony Russia, Russia, Russia hoax while chairing the Senate Intelligence Committee, declaring that ‘President Trump has no ties to Russia. Marco will never let the great people of Florida, or our country, down!”

Rubio said on Friday morning that he “appreciates President Trump’s support and his (Trump’s) leadership on the big issues facing our country, including dealing with threats from China and bringing good jobs back to America. Democrats are trying to undo everything we have accomplished in the last four years, but I will continue to fight for the forgotten men and women of this country and bring results to hard-working Florida families.”

A statement from Senator Rubio’s office said Rubio has accomplished much in office, including “he developed and received bipartisan passage of a PPP program that saved millions of jobs in Florida. He developed and passed the historic Veterans Accountability Act. He doubled the child tax credit over Democratic objections. He got the draining of the swamp back on track. His fight against the Chinese Communist Party earned him a sanctions ban from Beijing. He was named by the Luger Center as one of the leading bipartisan problem-solvers in Congress and the most legislatively effective Republican senator. And his constituent service has been recognized as the best in the entire Senate.”

Rubio was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010 and became one of the presidential contenders in 2016. He serves on several Senate committees, including the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee, and is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Citizen Security, Transnational Crime, Democracy, Human Rights and Global Women’s Issues. He is also vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and vice chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Rubio currently lives in West Miami with his wife, Janet, and four children.
