U.S. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) took to social media sites Thursday (8) to blast the idea of a vaccine passport as unsuitable for the United States, and between the lines, he derided the Chinese Communist Party.
In a posting, McCarthy praised former President Trump for the government’s “Operation Warp Speed” to develop a vaccine for Neoconiosis, writing, “With Operation Warp Speed, we will beat the virus, but force Americans to live their daily lives with a But forcing Americans to go about their daily lives with a ‘vaccine passport’ is unacceptable in a free society. You would expect it to be something from Communist China, not America.”
New York is the first state in the U.S. to support a vaccine passport, launching an app last month called “Excelsior Pass” that allows people who are certified to have received the new crown vaccine or have not recently contracted the disease to attend parties or business events. But several Republican states have reservations or even banned vaccine passports. Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas have stated their strong opposition to the use of vaccine passports in their states.
