Prime Minister Johnson announced that the UK will open outdoor bars and other “non-essential” business activities from next Monday; Johnson also hopes that the airline industry will recover as soon as possible.
Johnson announced in London on Monday that the UK is gradually relaxing measures to deal with the epidemic, the UK will further relax restrictions, but for this summer’s permission to travel abroad, British citizens still need to wait patiently.
Britain had been the country with the most serious outbreak of the new crown (Chinese communist virus) in Europe, and the UK has again taken measures to close the city since January, but the epidemic in the UK has improved significantly recently. Johnson announced on Monday that some ‘non-essential’ commercial activities, such as outdoor bars, stores, fitness centers and barbershops, will reopen from Monday, despite some opposition. But Johnson refused to make a commitment on the abolition of the time limit for British people to travel abroad. When stores and outdoor bars reopen next week, customers will not be required to show proof of vaccination, Johnson said, adding that the vaccine passport applies to travel abroad and will be tried at some major events at home.
In accordance with the British government’s previously announced roadmap for easing outbreak control measures, some restrictions were eased in England at the end of March, and outdoor sports facilities, including tennis courts, basketball courts and open-air swimming pools, have reopened.
Johnson said at an epidemic briefing on Monday that there was no reason not to follow the roadmap to relax the foot-barring measures, but he urged people to remain cautious, and the government will continue to monitor changes in relevant data to assess the development of the epidemic.
Johnson also said that the vaccine passport will help travel and will work with other countries in the hope of gaining common recognition. The British Parliament will vote on the proposal of the vaccine passport.
Johnson also said he expects the airline industry to recover as soon as possible. Announcing the UK’s gradual relaxation of measures to deal with the outbreak, Johnson said he would allow ample time to give notice to airlines so they could prepare to return to non-essential overseas flights. The British government will provide essential support to the airline industry.
