Hunter talks again about being investigated by the FBI, saying he “fully cooperated”

In a CBS News interview broadcast April 4, Hunter Biden, son of incumbent President Joe Biden, said he is “fully cooperating” with FBI agents investigating his tax affairs.

Hunter said, “I can say this: I’m cooperating fully. And I’m absolutely certain – I’m 100 percent certain – that at the end of the investigation, I will be cleared of any wrongdoing.” He said, “All I can do is cooperate and trust in the process.”

Last year the New York Post reported on Hunter’s business dealings with both Ukraine and China. Tony Bobulinski, a former Hunter partner, said Hunter and Jim Biden, President Biden’s brother, had trade dealings with China’s Huaxin Energy Co. and were suspected of improper trade. Ltd. reportedly hired Hunt for the connections of his father, current President Joe Biden. Ltd. has been accused of having deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

On the Ukrainian side, Hunt serves on the board of directors of Ukraine’s Burisma gas company and earns a substantial monthly salary. The company is under investigation for corruption in Ukraine. President Biden has consistently denied that he knew of his son’s business dealings with China in Ukraine.

The New York Post has exposed an email from Burisma adviser Vadym Pozharskyi. In the email, Pozharskyi thanked Hunter for “giving him an opportunity” to meet with then-U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. The article also revealed that Joe Biden had pressured the Ukrainian government to fire Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Buscemetka.

Following the publication of the New York Post article, Twitter banned the sharing of links to the article. The move spurred allegations of unfair treatment and censorship. A spokeswoman for Facebook (Facebook) had said it limited the New York Post’s reach.

The U.S. government confirmed that federal prosecutors in Delaware have been investigating Hunt’s finances since December 2020.

At the time, Hunt said in a statement, “A professional and objective review of these issues will demonstrate that I have conducted my affairs legally and properly, including benefiting from the benefits of professional tax advisors.” President Biden responded to the statement, saying he supports his son.

Hunter has consistently denied that his overseas operations were improper. In a 19-year interview with ABC News, he said he did not make “ethical mistakes” and argued that “maybe it was in some big scheme.
