Chen Guangcheng, a well-known blind Chinese rights activist living in exile, was recently awarded the Leopoldo Lopez Prize for Freedom and Democracy by Kenyon University in the United States. In a speech to Voice of Hope Radio, he expressed his concern for human rights in China and suggested that the first step to freeing the country from the Chinese Communist Party’s dictatorial control is to liberate the press from information.
Chen Guangcheng said that Leopoldo is an opposition leader in Venezuela who was once illegally captured, imprisoned and placed under house arrest by the pro-communist Maduro dictatorship, and later found the opportunity to escape to the free world. Leopoldo’s classmates worked together to establish this award in honor and encouragement of his courageous human rights actions. He was the first recipient of the award. However, due to the epidemic, the award ceremony was postponed from last year until the 2nd. Chen Guangcheng expressed his honor in his acceptance speech and hoped that more people would come to publicly support freedom, human rights and democracy, and recognize the deep harm of communist dictatorship to human beings.
[Recording]: Generally speaking, more and more people are under the influence of the Chinese Communist regime’s global infiltration and corruption, and many people are trying to avoid talking about human rights as much as possible. In this situation, there are still many people and organizations, especially these universities, who can come forward to openly support the most basic values of freedom, human rights, and democracy, which I think is very worthy of recognition and praise. I hope that more people will do what they can to promote human rights as Kenyon University has done, so that the whole world can clearly understand the danger of dictatorship to mankind, especially the disaster caused by the communist dictatorship. I think the most obvious one is the communist virus, which has caused the death of more than 2 million people worldwide.
Chen Guangcheng believes that the Chinese Communist virus is spreading around the world, causing a pandemic that has sickened more than 100 million people, and in such a serious situation, the Chinese Communist Party still refuses to allow the international community to investigate the real source of the virus in China. Obviously the Chinese Communist Party knows that the leak was caused by their development of biochemical weapons, and no matter how the leak was caused, it was the Chinese Communist Party that caused the global catastrophe, so of course the Chinese Communist Party is afraid of a real investigation.
[Recording]: But in this case, I think in order to solve such problems and to make our lives safer, I think countries around the world should think about how to sweep the communist dictatorship into the ashes of history, and only in this way can we solve the problem at the root, otherwise, all kinds of problems will emerge, and such problems are not only in the fallen areas ruled by the communist dictatorship. It is not only in the fallen areas under the communist dictatorship that such problems occur. So it’s not just the Chinese people who are threatened, but the people of the whole world.
Chen Guangcheng said he is very much looking forward to drawing the attention of his friends from all walks of life around the world through this award, hoping to at least remind people in the free world of where the real threat to humanity lies. That is that the existence of communist dictatorship has changed the lives of all mankind and will threaten the security of all mankind. The world has now reached a critical and imminent moment when nations must come together to think about how to solve this problem.
I know it’s not easy for those who live in the mainland, they are blocked by the Chinese Communist Party, and the Internet is blocked. Other information is only available through the media, the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party. So let me share a little bit of experience with you, given the evil that many Chinese Communists are currently doing, for example, in Xinjiang, in Tibet, against human rights defenders in China, as well as in Hong Kong and Taiwan, where the Chinese Communist Party has directly undermined freedom and the rule of law in Hong Kong. Then in this case maybe if you only go to the Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece media, you might be deceived and hoodwinked by them.
Chen Guangcheng said that when he was in China, he used to read the news media, including Japanese media, American media, European media, including the Voice of Hope radio and New Tang Dynasty TV programs that we hear now. By comparing the information reported by overseas free media and the Chinese Communist Party’s mouthpiece media, we can clearly understand and distinguish that what the Chinese Communist Party’s mouthpiece media says is propaganda and not news at all. It is not news at all.
The Chinese Communist Party’s media is not called media, it is the mouthpiece of the Party. So in contrast, you can clearly understand how the Communist Party is deceiving, spreading false information and inciting hatred. When you really understand what is going on in the free world, you will have a clear understanding that the CCP is not doing it for the good of the whole China, it is just doing whatever it can to maintain its authoritarian regime to suppress the free voices and the free people. So, now I know that the CCP is trying to block all the information it doesn’t like, but I still remind people to find ways to get as much information as possible from overseas, whether it’s through satellite dishes, or through short-run radios, or through the Internet through walls.
Chen Guangcheng believes that when a person truly has access to free information, he or she will be able to clearly distinguish what the truth really is and recognize the evil nature of the communist dictatorship. Only then can one clearly grasp the direction of life and living.
[Recording]: So I encourage people to find more ways to get information from the free media in the free world, so that we can get out of the control of the Chinese Communist Party. First, we can be liberated from information, and then we can get our rights from personal freedom through our human rights actions, so that we can fundamentally solve the spell of the vicious circle of dictatorship in China, and let our future generations really get the dignity and freedom that we should have as a human being.
