Officials at the Washington State Department of health revealed on April 30 that more than 100 people in the area tested positive for COVID-19 (Chinese Communist virus, Wuhan pneumonia, New Crown pneumonia) about two weeks after receiving the vaccine.
ABC News reported that the Washington Department of Health is investigating these “breakthrough cases” and said that similar cases can occur with any vaccine.
Epidemiologists report that among the 1.2 million vaccinated people in the Washington area, 102 breakthrough cases have been reported in 18 counties since Feb. 1, representing 0.01 percent of the entire northwestern state’s population. A press release from the local health department said that most of the cases were among patients with mild symptoms.
At least eight “breakthrough cases” have been hospitalized, and the Washington State Department of Health is investigating two potential “breakthrough cases” that have died, both of whom are over 80 years old and have other health problems, the report said. The Department of Health said the investigation will help confirm the pattern of infection in the vaccinated population.
In addition, the Washington State Department of Health Director Shah (Umair Shah) said in a statement on 29 local Time, the emergence of breakthrough cases reminded everyone that even if they have been vaccinated, they must still wear a mask, wash their hands and maintain social distance.
