The Breitbart News reports that Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s “White House is telling me we don’t need other Asians in the Cabinet” and “that’s really offensive.
On Monday, Democratic Senator Duckworth discussed her recent push to increase Asian representation in the White House after Joe Biden vowed to build “the most diverse Cabinet in American history.
Duckworth recently took issue with Biden’s White House cabinet appointments in the name of more “diversity. Duckworth said the White House told her that because Kamala Harris represents the Asian-American community, there is no need for “any other Asians” in the Cabinet. She went on to say that the issue was addressed with the administration and that she was “glad” that there was now someone who could help Asian-Americans with their problems.
Duckworth said, “You know, I’m pushing for more representation at the highest levels of the Biden Administration” and “I love Kamala, she’s my friend. You know, we’re in the Senate together as new members. I’ve talked to her …. , and people in the administration actually brought up her name and said, well, you have Kamala, you really don’t need any other Asians in the cabinet. And I thought, wow, that’s really offensive. You’re not going to say we have a white male president, there shouldn’t be any white male members in the cabinet. Why would you say that to someone from the Asian community? But we worked it out.”
She concluded, “I’m glad they put someone in the White House …… who will help us navigate these issues and bring up issues that Asian Americans really care about, like the underreporting of violence against Asians.”
