U.S.-Taiwan Economic Dialogue Begins, Memorandum Signed

The U.S.-Taiwan Partnership for Economic Prosperity Dialogue was officially launched that day by the U.S.-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Taipei, the U.S.-Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office said Friday. U.S. State Department Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Keith Krach and Taiwan’s Economic Affairs Minister Chen Zheng-Qi attended the meeting in Washington, D.C., while Taiwan’s Executive Yuan Council Member Deng Zhen-Zhong and Economic Affairs Minister Wang Mei-Hua attended the meeting via video link.

At the opening of the meeting, Ambassador Hsiao and AIT Executive Director Ingrid Larson signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) laying the groundwork for an ongoing U.S.-Taiwan economic dialogue, according to a related press release.

The two sides will also discuss 5G, global health and safety, supply chain restructuring, science and technology, and infrastructure, according to the U.S. Representative Office in Taipei.

Taipei’s U.S. Representative Office in Taipei is scheduled to hold a “U.S.-Taiwan Partnership for Economic Prosperity Dialogue” press conference on the afternoon of April 20 at Twin Oaks in Washington, D.C., with Taiwan’s Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Cheng-chi attending.
