Japan’s former prime minister Abe speech: Japan has stood at the forefront of the confrontation between China and the United States

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe gave a speech at a meeting of the Niigata Prefectural Federation of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Niigata City on the 27th, and when talking about the confrontation between the United States and China, Abe pointed out that the Asian region, including Japan, is at the forefront of the confrontation between the United States and China.

In his speech, Abe pointed out that the rising military power of China is now making attempts to unilaterally change the status quo in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, and in this situation, it can be said that the front line has shifted to the Indian Ocean Pacific region. It is therefore necessary for us to refine our diplomatic security policy firmly based on this understanding and with adequate psychological preparation.

Commenting on the fact that Japan and the U.S. are holding face-to-face talks between President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in the U.S. in early April, Abe noted, “The important area in U.S. diplomacy and security strategy has shifted to the Indo-Pacific. This means that the Japan-U.S. Security treaty has really become important.”

Speaking about the Japan Self-Defense Forces, Abe noted that it is still a position that violates the Constitution and it is our responsibility to end it, thus emphasizing the need to revise the Constitution.

Speaking about the Abe regime, which has been in power for eight years since 2012, Abe pointed out: it is very regrettable that the revision of the Constitution has not been achieved.

He pointed out that many members of the Self-Defense Forces are still risking their lives in emergency liftoff activities, and spoke again about the need to amend Article 9 of the Constitution to clearly state the existence of the Self-Defense Forces.

Speaking about the next House of Representatives election to be held in September, Abe stressed: “The Kan regime is working as hard as it can, and will work with Prime Minister Kan to win no matter what, and must establish a more stable regime and advance policies strongly to fully advance the country.
