CNN (CNN) reported on the 27th, in view of the Evergreen Marine Chang Chi ship stranded in the Suez Canal, fearing potential impact for the global energy market, the U.S. Navy has extended a helping hand to the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), sent a Navy dredging expert assessment team to the scene on the 27th, to provide advice to assist the Chang Chi ship out of trouble.

The Egyptian government, for its part, confirmed that it has agreed to accept assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. The White House is well aware of the potential impact of the grounding of the long-gestation vessel on the energy market. CNN noted that the U.S. military often sends assessment teams to disaster sites to provide technical and other expertise, and the SCA responded with a statement that it values the U.S. efforts, contributions and proposals and looks forward to working with the U.S. Navy. The cooperation between the two sides can also deepen the friendship and cooperation between each other. The statement reiterated its sincere appreciation for the assistance offered by all sectors in rescuing the vessel, and the SCA will continue to work to free the vessel so that routine global maritime traffic in the Suez Canal can resume as soon as possible.
CNN pointed out that the initial estimate is that the canal will need to be cleared of up to 20,000 cubic meters of silty sand in order to free the ship. A total of two dredgers, nine tugboats and four strange hands are being deployed to try to speed up progress so that the world’s busiest waterway can return to normal as soon as possible.
