Bill Hagerty, a Republican U.S. senator from Tennessee and former U.S. ambassador to Japan, said Wednesday (March 24) that border and immigration policies under President Joe Biden are killing Americans and that open borders have increased drug trafficking into the United States.
In an interview with SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily on Wednesday, Hagerty questioned Biden’s immigration policies, according to a March 24 report by Breitbart News. Haggerty said Americans are being asked to leave the country.
Hagerty said Americans are dying from overdoses of fentanyl, an illegal drug from China.
“China is importing a lot of this fentanyl into Mexico —— where it’s being processed and manufactured into drugs that are coming into Tennessee and killing our children,” Hagerty said. Hagerty said.
He said several sheriffs had cautioned him about a spike in drug smuggling and human trafficking during Biden’s presidency.
“They opened a door, and now it’s a floodgate.” Hagerty continued, “It’s always been an open invitation, and what kind of incentive is it when you offer stimulus checks to illegal immigrants? It’s all the wrong incentives, and that’s why they’re facing a crisis of their own making that really threatens the safety and security of states like mine.”
Meanwhile, Hagerty contrasted the Biden Administration‘s treatment of U.S. citizens with its treatment of immigrants seeking entry across the U.S.-Mexico border: while American communities and schools are asked to close, illegal immigrants are invited in. Hagerty determined that the Biden administration’s different standards for citizens and non-citizens are driving a political awakening among Americans.
Last week, Hagerty asked the Biden administration for information on immigrants released into the United States via U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but the White House did not respond to his request.
Rep. Mo Brooks, an Alabama Republican, also told Breitbart News on Tuesday that many Americans are killed each year by illegal immigrants and illegal drugs smuggled through the southern border. About 2,000 Americans die each year at the hands of illegal aliens on U.S. soil, and 30,000 Americans die from drug overdoses, according to federal crime data.
