Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975), a native of Xikou Township, Fenghua County, Zhejiang Province, lived to be 89 years old. Yuanshan Hotel said that the main personnel who designed and planned the East-West Second Secret Road, in addition to architect Yang Zhuo Cheng, also invited a German-American engineer who had participated in the construction of World War II bunkers to participate in the entire construction project. Yang was appreciated by President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife, Soong Mei-ling, and was involved in the construction of important landmarks in Taiwan such as the C.C.C. Memorial Hall, the Grand Hotel at Yuanshan and the Cilhu Mausoleum.

After the renovation, landscape flowers such as mountain cherry blossoms and hydrangeas were planted, together with the installation art of the photo spot, becoming a secret garden suitable for couples to shoot wedding dresses or hold small parties.

The Yuanshan Grand Hotel said that the Secret Garden ends at the former residence of the hotel’s first general manager, Miss Kong Er-wei (Kong Ling-wei). She was the daughter of the eldest sister of the late President Chiang Kai-shek’s wife Soong Mei-ling, Soong Hsiang-ling, and Kong Hsiang-hsi.
