Deutsche Welle reports that AFP has obtained internal documents from the German Defense Ministry stating that the Chinese Communist authorities are attempting to make the Communist army the world’s top military, with the United States as the standard in the process, while the Communist Party’s military development is aimed at defending economic development and shaping an international order that best serves the Communist Party’s interests, first and foremost in the South China Sea and Taiwan.
The paper further cites and analyzes the current military capabilities of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which has 2 million troops, 6,850 armored combat vehicles, 1,600 fighter jets, and the world’s largest conventional rocket force.
But the article also points out the most fatal weaknesses of the CCP’s current military capabilities, namely its lack of experience in actual combat, as well as the fact that its level of military specialization is far from that of Western militaries, and that it is unlikely to surpass the United States in the field of conventional weapons.
Reports indicate that under Xi Jinping‘s leadership, the CCP is making strides to catch up with the United States militarily. In the air force, Beijing is almost on par with Washington, and in the navy, although the Communist Party has built its own aircraft carriers, it still has a more pronounced gap with the United States. According to Legarde, Xi is focused on developing highly modern weapons technology in order to catch up with the United States in this area. This is because the Communist Party leader understands that it is difficult to surpass the United States in the field of conventional weapons, but in the field of new technologies, this possibility exists.
