On March 17, a confirmed indigenous case suddenly emerged in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, in the form of an examiner in the closed isolation ward of Xi’an Hospital No. 8. According to local media reports, on the morning of March 17, patient Liu began to have a headache, a body temperature of 37.9°C, an abnormal chest CT and two positive nucleic acid tests. The expert team combined the epidemiological history, clinical manifestations and laboratory test results to confirm the diagnosis of Liu as a common type case, which was infected by accidental exposure in an isolated closed ward. At present, Liu is in the city’s eighth hospital to receive isolation treatment.
It is reported that Liu has not left the workplace since he entered the isolation ward of Xi’an Eighth Hospital on March 4. It was determined that the hospital was a high-risk site for new coronary pneumonia during his work.
