According to the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong, two Consulate General employees in Hong Kong have tested positive for New Coronavirus. The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong has announced the closure of the Consulate General for two days on March 16 and 17 for deep disinfection and cleaning while appropriate contact tracing is completed, and all scheduled services for U.S. citizens and visa applicants are declared cancelled for those days.
The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong emphasized that the two employees who tested positive for the virus did not work in offices that interact with the public. The U.S. Consulate General takes the prevention and containment of the new coronavirus seriously and has complied with all Hong Kong government requirements for the arrival, testing and quarantine of all diplomatic personnel and their families since the beginning of the pandemic.
In coordination with Hong Kong authorities, all U.S. Consulate General staff in Hong Kong responsibly took all appropriate measures to avoid the spread of the virus.
