EU “vaccine passport” does not recognize vaccines from China

The European Commission will discuss a bill next Wednesday (17) for an electronic green pass that would allow people who have been vaccinated against the Chinese Communist Party virus and who have been tested and found to have no confirmed diagnosis or antibodies to enter or leave the country.

But officials said Friday (12) that the pass might only recognize vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), in other words, not including any of the Chinese vaccines.

The EMA has approved only four vaccines against the Chinese Communist virus, including those developed by the U.S. drugmaker Pfizer in collaboration with Germany‘s BioNTech, the British drugmaker AstraZeneca and Oxford University, and the U.S. vaccines from Modena and Johnson & Johnson. Authorities are looking at the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

EU President Ryan said she wants the passport to allow free and safe access in the EU and abroad.
