Bestselling book on transgenderism banned from Amazon, lawmaker asks to separate from conservative views

Bestselling book “When Harry Became Sally, Coping with the Transgender Moment” banned by Amazon

Compiled by Wenbo Li of Apollo.com, Amazon has announced that it continues to ban books that challenge the progressive narrative on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues, according to Breitbart News.

As Breitbart News previously reported, in late February, just days before Congress voted on the Equality Act, Amazon removed Anderson’s 2018 publication When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment Moment).

The four senators, Rubio, Hawley, Braun and Lee, wrote to ask Amazon why it decided to ban the best-selling book on transgenderism written by conservative scholar Ryan T. Anderson.

In a March 11 letter to the four Republican senators, Amazon said that while they “offer customers access to a variety of perspectives, including books that some customers may find uncomfortable,” they want to draw a line in the sand with people who disagree with progressive views on gender issues and assert that they “do not sell books that identify cisgender biphobia and transgenderism as mental illnesses.

The Wall Street Journal revealed in a March 12 op-ed that in a letter to Amazon, the senators argued that removing the book was “a signal to conservative Americans that conservative views are not welcome at Amazon.”

“Amazon is using its vast power to distort the marketplace of ideas and cheat its own customers in the process,” Anderson and his publisher, Roger Kimball, said in a joint statement Thursday.
