The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said today that severe allergies should be spiked as a possible side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine after some cases of allergic reactions in the UK.
The EMA said yesterday that it was investigating the blood clot problem that prompted Denmark to suspend use of the AZ vaccine, but also said the vaccine was still safe to continue using.
The EU Medicines Agency said it had “recommended that the information on this product be updated to include anaphylaxis and hypersensitivity as side effects.”
The EU Medicines Agency said, “There have been 41 notifications of possible allergic reactions to approximately 5 million vaccinations in the UK and this update is based on a review of these notifications.”
