On the 62nd anniversary of the 310 Tibetan resistance, the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association held a “World Peace Prayer Service” in Taipei’s Liberty Square in the evening to pray for the Tibetans who died in that year. The 11th Gurdwara Rinpoche came to Taiwan to tell the story of the Chinese Communist Party forcing Tibetans to sign the “Article 17 Agreement”. A Taiwan legislator called on the world to remember this period of history, and hoped that one day the tyranny would end.
Kirti Rinpoche, the 11th Gurden Rinpoche, abbot of Gurden Monastery in Tibet and India, said through an interpreter that 62 years ago, he witnessed the Chinese Communist army firing 300 artillery shells at the Tibetan capital of Lhasa, which the Chinese Communist Party planned to destroy, and finally the delegates were forced to sign a peace agreement.
The interpreter said, “At that Time, the “Seventeen Articles Agreement” was signed, and the “Seventeen Articles Agreement” was signed under coercion, and I had a personal conversation with the delegates who signed the agreement.
Fan Yun, a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) who attended the commemorative event, said that in 1950, Tibet signed a peace agreement with the Chinese Communist Party, commonly known as the “Article 17 Agreement,” when the Tibetans believed that China would guarantee their freedom of religion and other political rights. After the agreement was signed, the Chinese army entered Tibet and not only confiscated Tibetan religious freedom, but also destroyed many Buddhist monasteries.

Fan Yun said that the history of Tibetans rising up against violence is very important to Taiwanese people, and every year today is a day for Taiwanese people to catch up with the lesson. Only after reading this lesson can they truly understand the nature of the Chinese Communist tyranny and that the peace agreement cannot be trusted.
Time Force legislator Chiu Hsien-Chih said that the purpose of remembering the Tibetan resistance here today is to make everyone remember this history forever, and that one day the tyranny will die.
The fact that we need to fight against tyranny is that we should not forget it, we should always remember it. As long as we can always remember it, I believe that one day, as the saying goes, tyranny will die. In a free and democratic Taiwan, I think we have a lot in common with Tibet, including a very deep compassion in our Culture and a desire to have a compassionate heart for people.
The secretary-general of Time Force, Bai Qingfen, said he was heavy and sad to attend the memorial because no one wants such a tragedy to happen.

Taipei City Councilor Miao Boya said that even in the face of the Chinese Communist Party’s total suppression, Tibetans are still making efforts to make their way Home.
Miao Boya said: After so long in different parts of the world, Tibetan friends and children still insist on passing on their own language, their own culture and their own history, which makes me very admire as a Taiwanese. This year is also the election year in Tibet. In the face of the Chinese Communist Party’s continuous suppression and aggression, Tibetans still insist on fighting for their own democracy and freedom, which makes me, as a Taiwanese, and as a representative of public opinion in Taiwan, reflect and think a lot.
In 1951, the Chinese Communist Party signed the “Article 17 Agreement” with Tibet, and then from 1955 onwards, they forced the “People’s Commune” and “Great Leap Forward” in Tibetan areas, and also destroyed monasteries in the name of class struggle. On March 10, 1959, an armed conflict broke out in Tibet and the Chinese Communist Party sent troops to suppress it, sending the 14th Dalai Lama into exile in India. Later generations of Tibetans have designated this day as “Tibetan Uprising Day”.
