Chinese Super League champion Jiangsu Suning has recently announced that it will cease team operations and will soon face dissolution. A number of fans recently protested by pulling banners in front of the club’s headquarters, and some said they had been warned by the police that they could not have any protest activities in the coming days.
Suning Group announced earlier that it would focus its resources on its core retail business and stop the team’s operations. Some fans protested in front of the club’s headquarters last Wednesday (3), with a banner reading “Blood is hard to cool, defend the Jiangsu team”. Some supporters also went to the provincial government sports department to lobby, but were warned by police.
Some fans said that although the official dissolution of the club has not yet been announced, it will be coming soon, describing the current mood as “anger, heartbreak and powerlessness”. Jiangsu Suning stopped operating about 100 days after winning the Chinese Super League title, and some fans stressed that it was difficult to accept.
