The Social Responsibility Development Index is an annual evaluation comprehensive index launched by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences for the status quo of corporate social responsibility management, responsibility information disclosure level. By virtue of its outstanding market performance, innovative vitality in each responsibility area, rigorous and standardized internal management and excellent external evaluation, China Samsung has become one of the “five-star” companies with the highest rating in the SRM Index and has been awarded the CASS Corporate Excellence Award.

The evaluation index of CASS for CSR includes market responsibility, environmental responsibility, social responsibility, responsibility management and other dimensions. Market responsibility means that the company creates quality products and services, creates value for investors, and drives supply chain partners to promote sustainable socio-economic development. Samsung has 20 production plants, 7 R&D centers, and nearly 80,000 employees in China. Since its entry into China, Samsung has continuously adjusted its industrial layout and accelerated the pace of transformation and upgrading in order to transform from “Made in China” to “Made with Quality in China”. By the end of 2019, Samsung has invested a total of over $40 billion in China, including over $30 billion in semiconductor, new energy vehicle power battery and other high-precision industry sectors, accounting for 72% of the total investment. In the field of industrial poverty alleviation, Samsung China is guided by the concept of “shared management” and has created the “Shared Village” project, which aims to help poor villages realize the following through five aspects: industrial positioning and planning, village infrastructure construction and other support. “Really get out of poverty, don’t return to poverty”. In addition to industrial poverty alleviation, Samsung China has invested 260 million yuan in education poverty alleviation, building 168 Samsung Hope Primary Schools, conducting intelligent teacher training and constructing intelligent classrooms across the country, providing young people in impoverished areas with the opportunity to change their destiny with knowledge. In the area of health and poverty alleviation, it has provided free sight restoration surgery to more than 20,000 youths and children with visual impairment in impoverished areas, and completed the construction and renovation of barrier-free facilities and equipment for 15 special education schools nationwide.
