On the eve of the 62nd anniversary of Tibetan Resistance Day on March 10, Tibetans in Taiwan and several civil society groups held a march on Sunday (7) to commemorate this bloody history. Zhaxi Tsering, chairman of the Tibetan-Taiwan Human Rights Link, pointed out that as an exiled Tibetan, he warned Taiwanese not to be deceived by Chinese lies. The procession marched to the front of the Bank of China Taipei Branch in Taipei City to recreate the scene of the signing of the “Article 17 Agreement” with performance art, reminding Taiwanese people that “when China proposes a peace agreement, please look at Tibet”.
On March 10, the 62nd anniversary of Tibetan resistance to violence, several groups in Taiwan, including the Tibetan Welfare Association, held a 310th anti-violence march in Taipei on Sunday, with people chanting slogans in support of Tibet before setting off.
Tibetan Taiwan Human Rights Link director Zhaxi Tsering said that in order to protect Tibetan Culture and fight for freedom, more than 150 young Tibetans have protested by self-immolation, and Taiwan should see what happens when Tibet signs a peace agreement with the Chinese Communist Party.
The Chinese Communist Party signed a 17-article peace agreement with Tibet on May 23, 1951, but within a few years, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and 80,000 Tibetans had gone into exile in India. You should pay attention, why we were born in Taiwan, why we take Taiwan’s ID card, because we don’t have our country’s identity, we don’t have our country’s rights, it is illegal for Tibetans to be inside Tibet, it is illegal for Tibetans to speak Tibetan and learn Tibetan in Tibet, they have to be imprisoned.
Hong Shen-Han, vice president of the Taiwan Congress Tibetan Link, said that Tibetans have been fighting to go Home for decades, and it’s a long road, but Taiwanese will definitely accompany their Tibetan friends and must help Tibetans walk home.
Hong Shen-Han said: A few days ago, 47 friends in Hong Kong who participated in the election were also suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party with the charge of subversion of the state, I think we have all seen very clearly, the international also see very clearly the development model of China, China’s hegemony is definitely not an option for this world. We can only confront such hegemony together, and we must unite together, so that we can finally walk together to the freedom, democracy and human rights that we hope the world will pursue together.
DPP legislator Fan Yun said, from the history of Tibet, we can see that any “peace agreement” with China is not credible, because Tibet, which signed a “peace agreement” with China, ended up getting bloodshed.
Fan Yun said: I have always said that the Tibetan issue is the Taiwan issue, helping Tibet is helping Taiwan, and our fate is so connected with Tibet, facing the same power oppression Taiwan people can not stand up, what qualifications we have to the world, for their fate is not necessarily related to Taiwan to stand up. Therefore, all friends should care about Tibet and Hong Kong together, because caring about Tibet and Hong Kong is not only the basic dignity of being a human being, but also the survival of Taiwan.
DPP Deputy Secretary General Lin Feifan said that March 10 is a very important day for Tibet to resist the uprising, Tibet is still oppressed by the Chinese Communist Party today, he called on the people of Taiwan to continue to provide assistance for the people of Tibet.
The reason is simple, because they want their blood-stained history to be recognized by all their friends in the world. They hope that even after 62 or 70 years, there are still many friends who can remember what kind of brutal treatment the Tibetans received. With so many Tibetan friends here, I want to tell you that Taiwan will always be a society he can accept, whether from Tibet, from Uyghur, or from Hong Kong, we will always be an open, democratic, free, prosperous, and dignified society to fight with everyone here.
After the procession set off, it performed an action drama in front of the Bank of China Taipei Branch, recreating the scene of the peace agreement signed between Tibet and China back then.
Tibetan-Taiwan Human Rights Link director Lin Xinyi narrated that Tibetans want to let Taiwanese know that when talking about the peace agreement with China, please look at Tibet, and when China talks about “one country, two systems”, please look at Hong Kong, calling on Taiwanese to never believe the words of the Chinese Communist Party.
