Judge Jeff Weill has called for a new runoff election in Aberdeen, Mississippi, after finding that 78 percent of mail-in ballots were proven to be fraudulent.
In a 64-page order, Judge Jeff Weill not only called for a new election, but also found evidence of fraud and criminal activity in how absentee ballots were handled, how votes were counted, and the conduct of some people at polling places, the WCBI website reported.
In his ruling, the judge said 66 of the 84 absentee ballots cast in the June runoff election were invalid and should not have been counted at all. Nicholas Holliday was declared the winner by 37 votes, and Robert Devaull challenged the results in court.
Judge Weir found numerous irregularities in the absentee ballots. He issued a warrant for the arrest of Dallas Jones, the notary who notarized the absentee ballots. At the hearing, Jones pleaded guilty to violating his notary duties.
Lydia Quarles, Robert Deva’s attorney, said, “When you have an absentee ballot, here’s an envelope, you vote, fold the ballot, put it in the envelope, lick the flap of the envelope, sign the flap, and then the notary signs your election certificate, and she testified that she didn’t sign it in front of anybody, didn’t see anybody sign it , she just notarized it, she just stamped them.”
In fact, Jones testified that she was called to the Home of then-Congresswoman Garth in June to correct her father’s absentee ballot papers. There, Jones testified that she notarized “about 30 or so ballots.”
According to the National Pulse
The Democratic primary was held in Mississippi’s First Congressional District or Aberdeen, between candidates Robert Dewar and Nicholas Holliday for the city council seat.
” Dallas Jones, the notary in charge of approving the forged ballots, testified that she notarized “about 30 or so ballots” at one home alone.
The investigation also found that 83 regular ballots were counted without being initialled by election workers.”
“The court finds that there is probable cause that several individuals involved in the disturbances in the voting precincts during Election Day ‘willfully and corruptly violated’ one or more of the above criminal statutes,” the court document said.” The court will refer to the appropriate authorities to determine whether the conduct of Maurice Howard, Henry Randle and S. Nicholas Holliday constitutes an indictable offense.”
