U.S. media outlet National Pulse reported Monday that Biden‘s choice for deputy secretary of state for political affairs defended the Communist Party-funded Confucius Institute eight years ago.
Confucius Institutes are located at U.S. universities and are described by Communist government officials as “an important part of the Communist Party’s overseas propaganda apparatus. According to the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice, the Confucius Institutes are notorious for propaganda, intellectual property theft and espionage.
The Confucius Institute is now counting on the support of Victoria Nuland.
Ms. Nuland, an alumna of the Obama administration’s State Department who was nominated to join the Biden White House, outlined her support for the Confucius Institute at a press conference in 2012. A reporter asked Nuland if the Obama administration was concerned about “the expansion of the Confucius Institute as the strongest Chinese soft power in the United States?”
“No,” Nuland replied.” This (Confucius Institute) is something we support. It’s part of the mutual understanding between people and people.”
Nuland is also a senior adviser to the Albright Stonebridge Group, a consulting firm that works extensively with China and employs Chinese Communist Party officials.
