DHS Secretary signals that illegal immigrants can come to the U.S. but must wait

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas signaled to illegal immigrants from South America at a White House press conference on March 1 that there are no restrictions on illegal immigrants coming to the United States, but they can’t come now.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas (Alejandro Mayorkas) signaled to illegal immigrants from South America on Monday (March 1) that there are no restrictions on illegal immigrants coming to the United States, but they can’t come now.

Outsiders have criticized that the Biden administration is sending a dangerous signal to illegal immigrants and human traffickers.

Mayorkas said Monday in the White House press room that the Biden Administration will propose “an orderly humane and safe immigration process.

He said the Biden administration has a “multisectoral strategy” to implement this vision, including the U.S. government working with the Mexican government and with international organizations in Mexico, and vaccinating frontline workers at ports of entry.

He added that there is no crisis at the U.S. southern border and that the Biden administration is adequate to deal with a possible refugee border crisis.

However, Mayorkas did not provide a timeline for the introduction of the Biden administration’s immigration system or more details.

Mayorkas also urged foreign illegal immigrants who want to come to the United States to “wait” on Monday.

“The last administration dismantled our entire immigration system,” he said, “and it will take Time (to build the system), but rest assured, we will get it done.”

Meanwhile, Mayorkas reiterated a stern warning to those considering running to the U.S. southern border for illegal immigration.

“They (illegal immigrants) need to wait.” Mayorkas said, “If they, a large Family or a single adult comes to the U.S. border, we have an obligation, in the interest of public health services, including the health of those who are coming in, to implement travel restrictions in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and send them back to Mexico – -which we are already doing.”

Mayorkas added in a spin, “We’re not saying, don’t they come. We’re saying, don’t come now because we’re going to provide them with a safe and orderly process as soon as possible.”

But when asked if there was a refugee “crisis” at the U.S. border, Mayorkas flatly denied it.

Previous media reports have indicated that a large number of South American refugees have been encouraged by Biden’s immigration policies and are choosing to travel north through Mexico before entering the United States.

President Joe Biden will hold a video conference with Mexican President Manuel López Obrador on Monday afternoon, when Biden last spoke with Obrador, he has announced that he will take steps to undo the Trump era immigration policy.

Biden, who has one of the largest agendas on immigration, has taken a series of steps to call a halt to Trump-era policies, including halting construction of the wall on the southern border, ending the travel ban and easing refugee policies, including the Trump Administration‘s “stay in Mexico” immigration policy that began in January 2019. Migrant Protection Protocols (MPPs), a policy designed to prevent Central American refugees from entering the U.S. on the grounds of political asylum and then living in hiding.

Mexico currently hosts about 70,000 political asylum applicants seeking to travel to the U.S. who are currently in Mexico waiting to be scheduled in immigration court. But Biden began lifting the “stay in Mexico” policy as soon as he took office on Jan. 20, and quickly released 26,000 applicants who are still waiting in line for their cases to enter the United States.

Republicans have warned Biden that his immigration policies will lead to large numbers of refugees choosing to move north in anticipation of a loosening of U.S. enforcement and asylum policies.

Former President Donald Trump said during an appearance at the Conservative Political Convention (CPAC) on Sunday (Feb. 28) that he left office having created the most secure border only six weeks after Biden allowed large numbers of illegal immigrants and allowed caravans to pour into the U.S. like never before.

He criticized Biden’s false promises on immigration as fueling the South American caravan and only fueling human traffickers to encourage more people to come to the United States.

Trump said the U.S. is happy to help people, but the U.S. is a country that cannot afford that much of an influx of refugees.

He also mentioned that the three South American countries initially refused to accept criminal citizens returned by the U.S., such as the MS-13 gangsters who killed Americans. After Trump threatened to stop giving economic aid to the three South American countries, they began to accept their own citizens who were returned; but now Biden has botched these, and the U.S. is once again spreading money, catching and releasing them.

Commenting on Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas’ White House press video, senior Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said, “What a disaster. There’s no clue, there’s no plan.”
