Turkish Presidency submits motion to send troops to Azerbaijan

Turkey’s presidential office has submitted a motion to the country’s parliament calling for the deployment of Turkish troops to Azerbaijan, RIA Nov. 16 quoted Turkey’s Anadolu news agency as saying. The parliament is expected to consider the proposal in the coming days.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly said last week that Moscow and Ankara had signed a memorandum on the establishment of a ceasefire control center in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The Kremlin said Turkey and Russia would cooperate through the center in Azerbaijan, but “the subject of establishing a joint peacekeeping force was not discussed”.
