Australian report: virus spreads in the air

Security guards take the temperature of customers at the entrance of a commercial center in Sydney, Australia

A newly released preliminary report in Australia has concluded that the building’s ventilation system is a possible way to spread the new Coronavirus coronavirus.

The reporter reported from Sydney on Sunday (Feb. 28, 2021) that it actually ended up not even being enough to keep social distance still? The findings of this report, submitted at the request of Western Australian authorities, are disturbing after a security guard working in a hotel that quarantined foreign arrivals was infected by the virus. The security guard complied with Epidemic prevention rules and never had direct contact with the quarantined person in the hotel.

The most likely hypothesis

The most likely hypothesis is that the virus traveled through the hotel via the ventilation system and, therefore, could be airborne. This possibility has also been considered in Melbourne, where a similar infection was recently reported in a hotel used for quarantine. Other than that, the route of transmission of the virus could not be explained.

It is also found in several Asian countries

The possibility of airborne transmission of the Covid-19 virus has also been noted in several Asian countries. Some cases of infection in restaurants, in public transport and in the same building were not caused by human contact.
