Pompeo: China should pay the “real price” for persecuting human rights

After attending and speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on the 27th, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was interviewed on the sidelines by Forsyth News, saying that the Biden administration was sending too confusing a message about China’s crackdown on Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, and urging Biden to make the Beijing authorities pay “the real price.”

Pompeo concluded during his tenure that China’s actions against the Uighurs in Xinjiang were “genocide,” and his successor, Blinken, has indicated he shares that judgment, but Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield (R-Texas) previously said during a Senate appointment The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers. In response, Pompeo criticized: “The (Biden) administration has so far sent a confusing signal.”

In addition, in response to Biden’s earlier statement that each country has different cultural norms that leaders in each country would be expected to follow, Pompeo had ridiculed that if forced sterilization and labor, breaking up families, and imprisoning a million people just to drive non-Han people to extinction were not considered genocide, the world would not make sense.

Now, Pompeo further called on the Biden Administration to respond forcefully to Beijing’s oppression of the Uyghurs, “It is now the Biden administration’s responsibility to respond to the worst human rights abuses since the 1930s and make the Chinese Communist Party pay the real price until they stop doing so.”

Pompeo also warned that the Chinese regime is engaged in a “global campaign to weaken the rule of law and democracy” by spreading disinformation, stealing intellectual property rights and imposing military force, and that if the United States is not prepared to compete and confront at every level – diplomatic, economic or military – the Chinese Communist Party will continue to make progress and the United States will be subjugated, as will the rest of the world. And so will the rest of the world.
