The report pointed out that the country’s total fertility rate was 0.84 last year, refreshing the country’s total fertility rate of 0.92 for 2019 released a year ago, further reaching a new record low. Among them, the capital Seoul had the lowest birth rate at 0.64.
South Korea has the lowest fertility rate among the more than 180 members of the World Bank, well below the 1.73 in the United States and 1.42 in Japan, and only South Korea is below 1, among the 37 member countries of the OECD.
