Biden signs executive order in response to chip shortage, vows to prevent shortages of key products

President Biden today signed an executive order to address the shortage of semiconductor chips, and he vowed to end the shortage of critical goods and services. The shortage of chips has forced U.S. automakers and other manufacturing industries to cut production.

AFP reported that Biden said shortly before signing the executive order to strengthen the U.S. supply chain, “The bottom line is simple: the goods and services that the American people depend on should never face shortages.”

The industry is now worried not only about short-term chip shortages, but also about the reliability of long-term supplies of rare earth minerals and other materials.

Also, masks and other personal protective equipment are facing supply shortages during the 2019 coronavirus disease (Chinese Communist Virus, COVID-19) outbreak.

The executive order signed by Biden will require a 100-day review of the supply chain for four key products. These four products include semiconductor chips, high-capacity batteries for electric vehicles, rare earth minerals and pharmaceuticals.
