Biden: Arrested for breaking into the Capitol, sitting in the Speaker’s chair, video goes viral in stunning reversal

U.S. media outlet Breitbart News reported Monday that Biden had claimed he was arrested for trespassing at the Capitol when he was 21 years old, describing a crime similar to the federal charges some participants in the Jan. 6 congressional riot now face.

Fox News reported Sunday that on the David Letterman show in 2007, then-Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Biden claimed he was arrested at the U.S. Capitol when he was 21 years old. In recounting the details of his arrest, Biden said he went to Georgetown University one Saturday to visit some friends and decided to visit Washington because he was “fascinated with the Senate.

In those days,” Biden said on the show, “there were no guards around to stop you, and I was following the congressmen just after they had finished their meeting, and all of a sudden I found myself in the chamber, and I was stunned. I walked up and sat in the moderator’s seat and a guy grabbed me by the shoulder and said, ‘You’re under arrest.'”

Biden continued on the 2007 show, “In fact, nine years later when I walked into the Senate chamber through the same door, the guy [the police officer] said to me, ‘Senator, do you remember me?’ And I said, ‘Gosh, I don’t remember.’ The officer said, ‘I arrested you nine years ago. Welcome back.'”

The video went viral on social media Sunday (Feb. 21) and was viewed by hundreds of thousands of people, with Trump supporters noting the “irony” of the clip as hundreds of people face charges related to the U.S. Capitol.

Fox News noted that Biden’s bragging about the arrest was verified as false. Here’s another Biden fakery. Biden claimed during the 2020 presidential election that he tried to meet with the imprisoned Mandela while visiting South Africa, and Biden was arrested. Biden’s campaign later admitted that what was said this Time was not true either, and it turned out that Biden’s claim to have been arrested for visiting Mandela was also false.
