Recently, Mr. Liu, a worker from Zhenba County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, who participated in the construction of the isolated integrated house at Huangzhuang Apartment in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, finally ended his self-funded local centralized isolation in Shaanxi and returned Home.
He told reporters, “It’s too chilling. Dozens of our local migrant workers who were involved in the construction have been forcibly segregated, and there is no way to reunite for the New Year.”
Mr. Liu tested negative four times after completing his construction work on Jan. 27, when he returned to his hometown of Zhenba County from the low-risk area on Feb. 3, only to be forcibly quarantined by the local government at his own expense. Mr. Liu revealed that the centralized isolation cost more than 1,200 yuan, spending much more on isolation than the cost of labor to build the isolation room.

Mr. Liu revealed, “We returned home at 4 pm and just reported to the village, people from the police station and the county government came and demanded that I must go to centralized isolation. If you do not go, it is definitely going to be enforced.”
“Their county government staff showed us the document of January 6, ‘Shijiazhuang regardless of high, medium and low risk areas to return home to quarantine.’ But then there is a new document, they do not use, do not recognize.”
On January 21, Shaanxi Province’s requirements for people returning from outside the province stipulate that “returnees need to return home with a valid new coronavirus nucleic acid test negative result within 7 days and implement 14 days of home health testing upon return, during which Time they do not gather or flow and carry out nucleic acid testing every 7 days.”
“We called the county government and the staff told us that they listen to the requirements of the city. We called the city government hotline, and the city said that the local government decides. Anyway, it’s just kicking the can down the road.” Mr. Liu said helplessly.
“We are Hebei Jian Gong construction company organized us to go to the construction, the results of the work for one or two days let us back, the reason is to go too many people. We work about 10 hours, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., a day’s work gave 400 pieces. We rest at night back to their own site (a dozen kilometers from Huangzhuang), with a bus pull back.”
It is understood that many migrant workers in Huangzhuang apartment construction can only sleep in their cars in the cold winter, and some sleep on the ground in integrated rooms.

Mr. Wang, another migrant worker from Zhenba County, told reporters, “We were only allowed to work for one or two days and then let go. Only part of the salary was paid, and part of it was not paid. These two days’ wages are not enough for our isolation. They told me that I would not come back to centralized isolation, but it is mandatory to come back, we are a little bit unjust.”
“We migrant workers, a Family of several people. It’s hard for us when they are like this. Accommodation 80 yuan, meals 35 yuan, 115 yuan per day, 14 days of isolation. The place of centralized isolation even has little hot water, and bathing is not convenient.”
Mr. Huang, also a migrant worker in Zhenba County, revealed, “On the site, we just get up early every day to go more than 6:00 a.m., and the next morning more than 6:00 a.m., to rest, a day and a night in a row, very hard. When we first went there, the place was a wasteland, and I worked there for a week. Our company went to five or six hundred people.”
The migrant workers unanimously said that they will continue to look for the relevant departments to see if someone can reimburse part of the cost, after all, for them to isolate at their own expense is not a small amount.
