Former President Ma Ying-jeou’s eldest daughter Ma Wei-zhong and her son-in-law Tsai Pei-ran, who are in their ninth year of Marriage, were originally perceived to be settled and working in Hong Kong. However, Apple has received information that Ma and Tsai have actually bought a high-class property in a private community in San Diego, California, registered under the couple’s name.

According to Apple’s investigation, the property was bought by Tsai Peiran in July 2017 for US$1.168 million (about NT$32 million), and the market value has risen to US$1.427 million (about NT$40 million), which is also jointly owned by Ma Weizhong, with a total of five rooms, a floor area of about 100 pings, and a registered land area of 2,000 pings.

The Apple reporter in Los Angeles went to find out. The property is located in the Santa Fe Ranch area (Rancho Santa Fe), a private community on a hill with tight security, double gates at the front and back, requiring registration before entry, a secluded environment, and good management.

The monthly fee for the golf course is nearly $40,000

The Home of Mr. and Mrs. Ma Tsai is a beige two-story building, the reporter rang the electric bell, no one answered the door, but under the carpet there is a receipt left by the pest control company that day, the name on the receipt is Chris Tsai, according to “Apple” check, Ma Wei Zhong’s father-in-law Tsai Long’s English name, is Chris Tsai.

The house was previously decorated in a dignified style, with a square layout, except for the living room and living room, each room has its own bathroom, and the backyard is spacious, but I don’t know if the Ma Weizhong couple has renovated it again after purchasing it.

Less than 500 meters from the house, there is a golf course and the clubhouse is located in the community. The clubhouse staff revealed to The Apple that many of their female members are residents of the community, each with a membership fee of $25,000 (about 700,000 Taiwan dollars) and a monthly fee of $1,295 (about 36,000 Taiwan dollars).

The value of another house is worth $10 million

According to Apple’s investigation, Tsai Peiran’s property in San Diego, California is actually not the only one. Near the University of California, San Diego, there is another house with only 2 rooms and 22 pings, which Tsai Peiran is also listed as the owner, and the current market value is about $484,000 (about 13.58 million NTD).

There is a reason why Tsai Peiran bought a property in San Diego. He immigrated to the United States with his Family in elementary school and lived in San Diego, where he also attended high school. According to Apple’s research, Ma Wei Zhong worked in Hong Kong after her marriage and also studied for her PhD at the University of California, San Diego, and she got her degree in 2017 and started a new house of her own with Tsai Pei Ran in the area.

Ma Wei Zhong and Cai Pei Ran are both American citizens who met at Harvard University. Their mother, Zhou Mei Qing, once disapproved of them being together, but Ma Wei Zhong was so infatuated that in 2012, Ma and Cai registered for marriage in New York.

After the marriage, Ma Wei Zhong moved to Hong Kong, rarely exposed, occasionally appearing mostly in the field of art. The last Time she was exposed in Taiwan was last January when she gave birth to her son in San Gao.

On the issue of Ma Weizhong and her son-in-law buying property in the United States, Ma Ying-jeou Foundation Executive Director Xiao Xuzen said that the former President Ma has left office, his family-related matters have nothing to do with public welfare.
