The Chinese Communist Party’s inhumane policies such as family planning have caused structural problems in society, and its attempts to adopt more inhumane policies to remedy them have sparked the anger of netizens Time and again. A few days ago, the Party’s media mouthpiece quoted an expert’s suggestion that leftover men from rural areas could be mated with leftover women from cities, and was blasted for saying, “You think it’s a mating of chickens and ducks?

On Feb. 15, Xinhua News Agency published an article on how to solve the problem of older leftover men in rural areas.

The article quoted Wu Xiuming, deputy secretary-general of the Shanxi Provincial Think Tank Development Association, as suggesting that, in the long run, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas and regional disparities will solve the problem of many leftover men in rural areas and many leftover women in cities; for the time being, consideration can be given to “exporting” leftover men from rural areas to industries and regions where women are concentrated, or arranging cross-regional matchmaking. The problem of gender “structure” can be solved as much as possible.

The article was sent out on Weibo and sparked outrage among netizens. Some questioned, “You think it’s so easy to breed chickens and ducks”. Others said, “I can’t believe this is an official Weibo post.

Some netizens angrily denounced, “urban leftover women do what’s wrong ah to match with rural leftover men?” Others responded, “We suggest that expert daughters marry there first!”

Last June, Huang Youguang, a professor at Fudan University in China, also posted an article saying that “legalizing brothels” and “monogamy” could be tried to solve the problem of many leftover men caused by family planning, which could also increase the birth rate of children.

This article has caused a lot of scolding. Hong Kong netizens said the proposal is the same as the Chinese Communist Party’s “communist co-wife” and condemned it for equating human beings with pigs on farms, which is morally bankrupt. Taiwanese netizens said they “agreed” with the proposal, but asked the expert who made the suggestion to first contribute his wife and daughter to solve the “needs”.

The Chinese Communist Party’s family planning policy has resulted in about 30 million more men than women in China. In recent years, the authorities have attempted to reverse the imbalance in the ratio of men to women and have introduced several measures, but with little success. Scholars within the Chinese Communist Party system have been “coming up with ideas” and proposing all sorts of bizarre solutions.
