Olympus has launched the new colonoscope “CF-XZ1200” series. Previously, the maximum magnification was 95x, but the new product increases the magnification to 135x, allowing for more detailed observation of lesions and facilitating early detection of cancer, etc. Olympus will expand its lineup of next-generation endoscopy systems for domestic launch in July 2020.
New product allows for more detailed observation of lesions
Olympus has updated the old model after six years with an improved optical zoom, increasing the maximum magnification to 135x, which was only 95x. This allows careful observation of the mucosa and blood vessels of lesions such as colon polyps, making it easier to determine the possibility of cancer, etc. The CMOS image sensor is used instead of the conventional CCD (charge-coupled device) for the camera element, allowing for high quality images with less jitter.
The new endoscope reduces the “color shift” around the image by shortening the light switching interval when illuminating the subject with red, green, and blue light in sequence. In addition, the operating area has been reduced and the configuration of buttons has been adjusted to improve the ease of operation for doctors. In terms of price, the 1680 mm long product is 5.9 million yen (excluding tax, about 363,000 yuan) and the 1330 mm product is 5.7 million yen (excluding tax, about 351,000 yuan). The new products will be available in Europe in April 2021, and will also be available in China and India and other Asian regions after approval.
