Another U.S. conservative group’s account permanently blocked by Twitter

Twitter revoked the account of conservative group Project Veritas on Thursday for allegedly “repeatedly violating” the company’s rules on sharing private information about others after they posted a video of a communication between Facebook executives.

A Twitter spokesperson said the @Project_Veritas account was permanently suspended for violating its “private information policy.

The ban was announced after Project Veritas released a revealing video on Wednesday of a meeting with Facebook executives to discuss the development of censorship tools.

In the video, Twitter Vice President of Integrity Guy Rosen can be seen explaining, “We have a system that is able to freeze comments on threads if our system detects that there may be a thread with hate speech or violence in the comments.”

In a second video released by Project Truth, one of its staff members can be seen confronting Rosen about his comments outside his Home as he returns from a jog.

The number on the executive’s home address can be seen in the clip, but the street name is not. The license plates of the surrounding cars are blurry.

“When you say you’re going to freeze comments that contain hate speech, what do you mean?” The Truth Project worker standing on the sidewalk as Rosen entered his home asked Rosen, “How do you define hate speech? Is it speech that you hate?” The confrontation lasted several seconds.

A Twitter spokesman said Truth Project founder James O’Keefe’s account was also blocked Thursday for violating the same policy.

O’Keefe told The Wrap that he was debating whether to delete the tweets tagged by Twitter in order to regain access to his personal account.

“Twitter’s claim that the video posted a private message is false,” O’Keefe said in a statement to the New York Post.

“Twitter invited Project Truth to appeal the decision to Twitter, and we did appeal the decision to Twitter. In an apparent act of retaliation for daring to question their authority, Twitter responded to our appeal by discontinuing our account, going on to tell us that the Truth Project could delete the tweet and have our account reinstated.”

He added, “This is not a new approach for Twitter – just last fall, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admitted in Congress that the company’s decision to block the New York Post was wrong, while also asking the Post to kneel down to them and remove the tweet. “

“When their decision was dared to be challenged, Twitter chose to remove the news and demand allegiance.”
