“I will kill all of you! Cut off your heads!” The White House switchboard phone rang several times between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1 local Time, and similar threats could be heard when it was picked up. CNN reported that the calls came from a North Carolina man charged with threatening to assassinate President Joe Biden, according to a criminal indictment made public on 11 local time.
Citing newly released court documents, the report said the man, David Kyle Reeves, 27, of Gastonia, N.C., was arrested on Feb. 5 for “intentionally threatening to take the Life of President Joe Biden.
Prosecutors revealed that between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1, Reeves repeatedly contacted the White House switchboard by phone and made threats against Biden and others. In one call, Reeves allegedly said he was going to kill everyone and “cut off your heads,” according to the criminal indictment. The indictment also alleges that Reeves was contacted by a Secret Service agent who discussed the threats. Reeves called the agent several times throughout the day, threatening the president, the agent and others.
However, in response to the allegations, Reeves told the Secret Service agent that “he had freedom of speech and had done nothing wrong. Reeves appeared in court on Nov. 11 and was ordered to remain in custody.” Reeves pleaded not guilty and underwent a mental health evaluation,” Reeves’ attorney told CNN.
CNN described the charge of threatening the president of the United States as carrying a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
