Foreign Secretary Says Disqualification of Four Councillors Jeopardizes Hong Kong’s Long-term Stability

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement that “China’s arbitrary decision to remove democratically elected members of the democratic camp in Hong Kong is a further attack on Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy and freedom as stipulated in the Sino-British Joint Declaration”.

The statement also said, “This kind of harassment, stifling and disqualification of the democratic opposition will damage China’s international reputation and undermine the long-term stability of Hong Kong.
