Another vaccination confirmed! Singapore 1 foreign engineer infected with the disease

Singapore’s Ministry of health said today (9) that a 30-year-old Indian-born engineer was diagnosed on the 6th of this month after receiving his first dose of Pfizer Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) vaccine on January 27, only to be diagnosed on the 6th of this month. This is the second case of vaccination in Singapore.

According to media reports, the Indian man worked as an engineer for Singapore-based communications company Station Satcom, where his work included boarding and installing communications equipment and IT equipment. He was in contact with a confirmed case before the diagnosis and was isolated from Jan. 13 to Jan. 24. He was last tested negative on Jan. 29, but developed symptoms of fatigue on Feb. 4 and fever on Feb. 5 without seeking medical attention. He underwent regular tests on the same day, and the diagnosis was confirmed on the 6th.

According to the report, the Singapore Ministry of Health said, “The man’s serum test was positive, but because of the presence of symptoms and the low Ct value of the PCR nucleic acid test, it was ruled as a recent infection.”

The Ministry of Health said the man was vaccinated on January 27 with the Wu Lung vaccine developed by Pfizer and the German biotech company BioNTech, but he may have developed antibodies in his body after the vaccination, which is why the test results became positive afterwards. The Ministry of Health added that the vaccine itself does not contain a live virus, so it is unlikely that the infection was caused by the vaccination; in addition, it is possible to be infected both before and after the vaccination because it usually takes several weeks for the body to develop immunity after the vaccination.

Another case reportedly diagnosed after vaccination was a 72-year-old Singaporean baggage screener at Changi Airport Terminal 1. After receiving his first dose of the vaccine on January 25, he tested positive for the virus on January 28 and 29.

According to reports, Singapore has two new domestic infections today, the other being a 49-year-old bus driver from a different community than the Indian engineer. He had symptoms of a runny nose on Jan. 31, but did not seek medical attention until a regular test on Jan. 5 confirmed the diagnosis.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health said that Singapore today added 20 new cases of foreign immigration, a total of 59,721 people have been diagnosed, the number of deceased remains at 29.
