French Defense Minister Parly tweeted earlier that his country’s ships have been cruising in the South China Sea and other Indo-Pacific waters
French Defense Minister Florence Parly tweeted early this morning Taiwan Time that the country’s nuclear submarine SNAÉmeraude and support ship BSAM Seine “have just completed a cruise in the South China Sea. This is a stark testament to our French Navy’s ability to conduct long-range and long-term deployments with our strategic partners, Australia, the United States and Japan.
In another tweet, Parly noted that the two French ships have been sailing 15,000 kilometers in Indo-Pacific waters since last September.
She pointed out that the reason for France to carry out such a mission is not only to enrich its knowledge of the South China Sea and other waters, but more importantly to confirm that international law is the only valid rule. This statement is clearly aimed at the Chinese Communist Party, which owns the majority of the South China Sea. The United States, Australia, India and other countries have refused to recognize the Chinese Communist Party’s “nine-dash line” and advocate “free navigation in the South China Sea”.
