Professor Chen Jianmin recently held a book signing event at the Mishan Bookstore, and the line of people who attended the event went straight to the street. Professor Chan said that many readers burst into tears as soon as they sat down, talking about the sinking of Hong Kong and the difficulties of leaving and staying. Professor Chan said, “How I wish I could have a good conversation with every friend who came to talk about how small but meaningful things can still be done in such ridiculous times. I feel deeply the harm done to people with a sense of justice and only hope that we will not have our hearts destroyed by this tyranny, just as I promised myself when I entered the prison on my first day.”
Reading these words was deeply moving. Yes, in the days of darkness, we must be careful to guard the little light inside ourselves, and with this spark in place, hope will not be dashed.
Today, Hong Kong has sunk to such an unbearable level that Lam Cheng is complacent in a clean Legislative Council, the government’s violence is sparing no effort to liquidate participants in the protest movement, the oath of loyalty to the party and state will be spread throughout the government, some judges in the judiciary are making a euphemistic turn, and of course, our next generation is doomed to brainwashing Education.
Biden‘s tough policy toward China has a dark underbelly, the European Union is colluding with the Chinese Communist Party for its own benefit, and a military coup in Myanmar has overthrown a democratically elected government, and the Western world is at a loss. The Western world is at a loss. The internal infighting between the two parties in the United States is still indistinguishable, and the Chinese Communist Party’s military planes have been infiltrating Taiwan on a large scale for days.
The people of Eastern Europe, South Korea, Taiwan, and many other democratic countries have all experienced such oppressive times, and now it is our turn.
But as Professor Chen Jianmin said, in these absurd times, we can still do something small but meaningful, such as going to Professor Chen’s book signing event, or buying the flowers distributed by the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China when their stall was closed by the government, and donating a little money to them. For example, cartoonist Zunzi drew cartoons for the public to raise money for the “June 4 rally”, and he could also participate in the event. There are many more activities organized by people with a heart to resist the government, to hold on to their ideas, and to unite the people.
In these difficult times, there are several “don’ts”: first, don’t give in, for giving in means we have no bones, we can’t stand up our backs. Third, don’t get used to it. Don’t get used to what the dictatorial government has done, to their reversal of right and wrong, to their genocide, don’t get used to it over Time. To be anti-human is to be anti-human. To be anti-human for a long time will not turn into love for humanity.
The Epidemic will pass one day, and there is still a lot of room for resistance and possibilities beyond the scope of the national security law.
The most important thing is that we have to believe in the idea that history follows the overall human nature. The Chinese Communist Party, like all dictators, only has party spirit without humanity in what they do, and a regime without humanity is absolutely impossible to last, the question is only how long we can hold on to it, and whether we have enough will to hold on to it.
No matter what, Hong Kong people must live longer than Xi Jinping, longer than the Communist Party, and longer than the cunts of Lin Zheng.
Sometimes, resistance doesn’t have to be violent, it doesn’t have to be massive, resistance may just be passive resistance, not cooperating, not listening, go to a book signing event with Professor Chen Jianmin, that’s enough.
More importantly, the tougher the day, the more we have to unite, not to blame each other, but to be more understanding and tolerant. When Martin Lee writes an article agreeing with Biden, it does not need to be so serious as to cut the seat with him; when Apple Daily has some articles not to your liking, it does not need to cancel the subscription; when the democratic legislators want to leave or stay, it does not need to be so serious as to denounce them. There may be differences in what people do, and there may be differences in certain views, but this is inevitable in a large-scale mass movement. What the Chinese Communist Party would like to see is Hong Kong people dividing themselves and killing each other, so that they can take the chestnuts out of the fire and draw the fire from the bottom.
We stand here, powerless, but we despise Lin Zheng, we despise the shameless villains of the establishment, and we despise Xi Jinping and senior CCP officials, because we surpass them in personality, and we can overwhelm them in character.
There is nothing more important than the weak light inside us. By guarding this light, the small light of all people gathered together can illuminate the path of history forward.
