Fox News anchor Lou Dobbs was grateful when former President Donald Trump spoke out in support of Dobbs after his 10-year show was taken off the air Friday (Feb. 5).
Trump issued an official statement from the former president’s office in support of Dobbs on Friday after learning that Dobbs’ show had been called off the air. “Lou Dobbs is great, now and in the past. No one loves America more than Dobbs. He has a large and loyal fan base that will be watching closely to see what he does next, and that fan base includes me.” The statement reads.
Because of the suspension of Trump’s Twitter account, a number of people on Twitter retweeted his statement. Dobbs replied to the statement Saturday, saying, “Thank you for your kind words, Mr. President. May God bless you and all the American patriots who make this country great.”

Dobbs himself also took to Twitter on Saturday to share multiple posts from other users expressing dismay that Fox Business and its parent company, Fox News Media, had dropped the show from the airwaves.
The Los Angeles Times first reported after 6 p.m. ET Friday that Fox News Media had canceled its acclaimed show “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” and a Fox News Media representative later confirmed the news.
Dobbs averaged about 300,000 viewers per show, the largest audience of any business news channel; however, his show was also a big money loser for the Fox Business Network because major advertisers feared retaliation and boycotts if they ran ads.
The show’s main audience is former President Trump’s supporters. The Fox network has reportedly been re-evaluating its Fox News and Fox Business networks’ programming since the fall, making some programming and host adjustments to welcome new President Joe Biden to the White House.
Many of Dobbs’ fans tweeted messages of support for Dobbs after it was confirmed that his signature show had been canceled.
Former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka tweeted, “Dobbs is a patriot. He tells the truth. He never backs down. That’s why Fox News had to cancel him.”
Many other fans called Fox’s cancellation of Dobbs’ show a “grave mistake” and “self-defeating.
Dobbs’ contract with Fox News, now 75, has not been suspended, but he may no longer host the show and may appear occasionally as a commentator on the Fox Business Network or Fox News Channel, according to reports.
“As we said in October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans to introduce new grids as appropriate after the election, including on Fox Business,” a Fox News representative said in a statement sent Friday. “This is part of a planned change. A new 5 p.m. slot will be announced soon.”
Starting next week, Dobbs’ show will be replaced by another show, “Fox Business Tonight,” with hosts Jackie DeAngelis and David Asman taking turns hosting the show, Fox News representatives said. Asman will take turns hosting and replacing Dobbs.
