Yang Wengbo, a native of Lulong, was famous for his filial piety. After his Parents died, he buried them on the 80-mile-high Wujin Mountain, where there was no water for drinking. In order to make it convenient for him to observe his parents’ filial piety, he built a hut next to his parents’ grave. He was so sad about the loss of his parents that he cried day and night. Finally, his filial piety moved the gods in the sky, who opened a clear spring next to the tomb for him to drink.
The good man did not enjoy the rare spring alone, but led the water to the roadside for pedestrians to take. Once, a man who came to the spring to drink a horse gave Yang Wengbo a liter of white stones and asked him to plant them in the ground, saying that the white stones would produce beautiful jade. He planted the stones in the ground according to what the horse drinker said, and later on, white jade biscuits were born in the ground, several pairs of which were two feet long.
One day, a fairy boy came down from the sky and brought Yang Weng Bo to visit the immortals on the sea. The fairy boy introduced to the group of immortals, “This is Yang Wengbo, who grows jade.” One immortal said, “You are so filial to your parents that the heavenly gods are really touched by your behavior. In the past, the heavenly gods gave you the seeds of jade, and you were really able to plant the jade. You and your wife should become immortals, and this palace where we are today is your future residence as an immortal. The Heavenly Emperor will visit here, you can prepare ten pieces of jade as a gift to the Heavenly Emperor.” After saying that, the fairy boy sent Yang Weng Bo back to earth. Yang Weng Bo gave the fairy boy ten pieces of jade as a gift.
Xu of Beiping had a daughter, and Yang Wengbo wanted to ask her to marry him, so he had someone go to Xu and ask her for a match. Xu said to the matchmaker, “A pair of white jade biscuits as a bride-price will do.” Weng Bo gave Xu five pairs of jade biscuits as the bride-price, and then married Xu’s daughter. A few years later, a dragon descended from the clouds to meet them, and Yang Weng Bo and his wife ascended to heaven on the dragon. Later, people called their residence “Yutianfang”. His descendants built a big stone pillar in the field to commemorate his immortality.
