The massive campaign to recall Democratic California Gov. Mike Newsom is proceeding apace, with recall action leader Orrin Heatlie saying the petition to recall Gov. Newsom has already garnered more than half of the signatures needed to launch a special election. Heatlie said volunteers have collected more than 1.4 million signatures.
The recall of Newsom must collect 1.5 million signatures by mid-March 2021 to start a special election, and more signatures are needed at this Time because it is possible some signatures could be disqualified during the certification process.
Less than 2 years after Democrat Newsom took office as governor of California, his ability to govern has been questioned by some voters and opponents. A series of negative events since Newsom took office, including the new coronavirus Epidemic, severe unemployment, devastating forest fires, and a recent public violation of a Home ban to attend a lavish birthday dinner party, have caused him to suffer a serious blow to trust and widespread criticism, and there is still no sign of Californians’ dissatisfaction with Newsom slowing down.
Under Newsom’s leadership, the spread of the new coronavirus has caused California to become almost the worst state in the United States in terms of outbreak. In this populous state, there have been as many as 225,201 cases of new coronavirus infection in 24 hours. California has taken new measures to prevent the epidemic, but has seen little success.
