During the outbreak of the Chinese Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) in Wuhan, front-line medical workers on the mainland were outraged by the dangers placed on them by the Chinese Communist government. Since the outbreak this year, the chaos on the front lines of the fight against the Epidemic has been repeated.
Liu Fen (a pseudonym), a frontline medical worker at a health service center in Jiangsu Province, told the Epoch Times about the chaos she experienced on the front lines of the epidemic this year and last.
The use of shoddy electronic thermometers in quarantine
According to Liu Fen, the electronic thermometers used by frontline medical staff are still the same shoddy products procured by the logistics department of the health service center during last year’s epidemic.
“Every morning medical staff go to work to take the temperature, we (units) of the electronic thermometer simply can not measure the correct temperature, the unit’s logistics department procurement of counterfeit and shoddy electronic thermometer. Our outpatient pre-screening triage desk, (to patients) using electronic thermometers is someone strongly requested, borrowed from other hospitals, either with a slower mercury thermometer.”
Liu Fen said, “Because of the thermometer problem, we are scolded by patients every day in the outpatient clinic. If the temperature is measured high, that’s okay, I’ll take the mercury thermometer again at most and measure it again. If this person has a fever and I don’t measure it, won’t something happen?”
She also revealed that during the Wuhan outbreak, their units purchased a large number of counterfeit ‘high-tech electronic thermometers’, medical staff used at high-speed intersections, traffic road junctions, railway stations, bus stations and other places to measure the temperature of normal people, some 28 degrees Celsius, some 32 degrees Celsius, simply can not measure the true body temperature. “
“We fight in the front line of medical personnel, shivering in the biting cold wind, but even the temperature can not be measured, wasting a lot of human and material resources, financial resources, and finally nothing was done. Isn’t this harmful to people and themselves? If there are really fever patients, is that not mixed in?”
Liu Fen recalled that at the beginning of last year’s epidemic, their unit had sent nurses to take the temperature of the administrative staff of a community street, using the electronic thermometer purchased by the logistics department, the results came out some 32 degrees Celsius; people who came out of the air-conditioned room, some measured more than 40 degrees Celsius, and later, the unit arranged for the unit’s backbone elite to measure, the results were still the same.
Since the outbreak in Wuhan last year, Chinese produced epidemic prevention products, from personal protective equipment to virus detection tools, have been exposed to scandals of counterfeit and shoddy products.
Front-line caregivers were required to wear isolation suits in shifts of two
What infuriates Liu Fen is that because of the bureaucratization of the unit’s leadership, frontline health care workers were completely exposed to the virus and had no protection from it.
She revealed, “The unit training stipulated that the isolation suits for health care workers were required to be sterile, clean and hygienic to reduce contamination. During the Wuhan epidemic, they (unit leaders) let the health care workers in two shifts at our outpatient pre-screening triage desk wear (isolation clothing) in rotation, that is, the person on the previous shift takes it off and gives it to the next shift to wear next; or you wear the isolation clothing today for one day and let you wear it next day.”
“These isolation suits are contaminated and should be disinfected and disposed of after taking them off, how can they be reused? They say supplies are in short supply during an epidemic.”
To get safe isolation clothes, the nursing staff began to rebel and refused to go on duty. Liu Fen said that later, under the strong request of the nursing staff Furong, only reluctantly gave two isolation suits.
Referring to the situation of the epidemic subsidies, Liu Fen said that it is also confusing, some people get it, some people will not get the subsidies, and there is a sneaky way to get it.
As for bonuses, overtime, the front line instead took the least. Liu Fen said, “We, the front-line anti-epidemic medical personnel, were arranged to the first line of isolation and quarantine, pre-screening triage, nucleic acid testing sampling, Home isolation, quarantine point quarantine prevention and control, but instead take the least money, those office staff in the logistics department, drinking tea in the office to take the money is the highest.”
Officials who never participated in the fight against the epidemic were named “representatives of the fight against the epidemic”
In addition, unit leaders who were not on the front line were named “front-line epidemic representatives,” and some employees complained about the situation to the mayor’s mailbox and were retaliated against by the unit leadership.
According to Liu Fen, in early January 2021, the ‘first-line anti-epidemic representative’ elected by their unit was the office director, but he had never been to the front line to fight against the epidemic, and he bought counterfeit electronic thermometers and did not give enough isolation clothes to medical and nursing staff, so the staff thought he was not suitable for the ‘first-line anti-epidemic representative. ‘? So they complained about it to 12345 and the mayor’s mailbox.
However, at the end of January 2021, the person who reported it was called to the conference room by the office director and informed that money would be deducted, 10 points would be deducted from the spiritual civilization award, and this employee’s performance award at the end of the year would be affected, and even the annual assessment rating of the career staff would be unqualified.
Liu Fen said, but unit colleagues on these leaders are afraid to speak out in anger, for fear of retaliation, she said, “because of the words were deducted money, we are living on wages, no salary bonuses how to live ah, and not like the leaders take red envelopes ah, there is gray income ah. They all know ah, hate ah, behind the scenes scold ah.”
