Chinese rights activist Guo Feixiong’s request to travel to the United States to care for his wife after cancer surgery was denied entry on the grounds that he was “endangering national security. On January 28th, Guo Feixiong lost contact with the outside world at Shanghai Pudong Airport, and on January 29th, more than 100 people from all walks of Life at Home and abroad signed a petition in solidarity with Guo Feixiong, calling on Western countries to help him reach his wish to visit his Family in the United States through diplomatic means.

On January 27, Guo Feixiong sent an open letter to Chinese Communist Party leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Li Zhanshu, stating that his wife, Zhang Qing, had just undergone open heart surgery for colon cancer with liver metastases on January 9, and that he had to go to the United States immediately to do his best to care for her and help her through the most dangerous and difficult point in her life. They called on Western countries to help Guo Feixiong’s wish to visit his family in the United States through diplomatic means.

U.S.-based democrat Gary Zhang, who met Guo Feixiong’s wife, Zhang Qing, in New York, praised Zhang Qing as a very hardworking person who came to the U.S., actively pursued her Education, raised her two children alone, and worked herself to death.

Guo Feixiong is now being forcibly restricted from leaving the country by the Chinese Communist Party authorities, and it is very inhumane for the Chinese Communist Party to keep Guo Feixiong and his wife apart from each other, and I regret what has happened to Guo Feixiong and express my anger at the Chinese Communist government.”

Guo Feixiong (real name Yang Maodong), one of the pioneers of China’s rights movement, was tortured and abused in prison after two heavy sentences, five years in 2007 and six years in 2013. in 2009, Guo’s wife fled China with their two young children to escape persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.
