Vice President Mike Pence rallied his staff Monday, saying the 2020 presidential election is “not over” as the Trump campaign launches legal proceedings in some key battleground states where Joe Biden is leading.
Fox News reported on Nov. 9 that Pence tweeted on his Twitter account Monday, “Told the VP team today, ‘It’s not over until it’s over, and it’s not over yet!’ President Trump has never stopped fighting for us and we will continue to fight until every legal vote is counted!”
Pence, held the meeting Monday in the ceremonial office of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, next door to the White House. According to an administration official who was there, there was a standing ovation as the vice president walked in.
The official told Fox News that Pence first thanked everyone and then said something consistent with what he had tweeted. The official told Fox News that the staff was buoyed by the vice president’s spirit.
Pence’s remarks came after Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien held a similar meeting with staffers at Trump’s campaign headquarters Monday morning.
“He’s still in this fight,” Stepien said, according to multiple people who were present. “There’s a process to it.”
Stephen added, “Be patient.”
Stephen thanked the Trump campaign staff for continuing to do their job and updated them on legal challenges and recounts in key states, according to those in attendance.
The Trump campaign has already filed legal action in Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Georgia, among other states.
So far, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader McCarthy, senior senator and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Graham, and other Republican leaders have all expressed strong support for Trump’s efforts to launch legal proceedings.
The Republican Party itself supports the president’s ongoing lawsuit and has called for public participation in assisting the effort.
First Lady Melania Trump tweeted on her Twitter account on Nov. 8, “The American people deserve a fair election. Every legal vote (not illegal votes) should be counted.” … This tweet shows that Melania fully supports President Trump and will continue to fight to protect American democracy.
