Chinese human rights lawyer Lu Siwei, who was entrusted with defending Qiao Yingyu, one of the 12 people sent to China, has been repeatedly interviewed by Chinese officials and asked to stop intervening in the case of the 12 people. Lu Siwei had his lawyer’s license revoked by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Justice on the 15th of this month, and his membership was revoked by the Sichuan Lawyers Association today for “endangering national security” as a disciplinary measure.
The Chinese Sichuan Lawyers Association issued a disciplinary decision against Lu Siwei today, accusing him of frequently making statements on the Internet since 2019 that endangered national security, especially repeatedly making inappropriate public statements about judicial cases, seriously damaging the image of the lawyer profession and causing a bad impact on society.
The Sichuan Lawyers Association said it decided to cancel Lu Siwei’s membership today because his practice certificate was revoked by the judiciary on the 15th of this month.
