Trump’s favorite, former White House spokesman Bernie Sanders, rumored to run for Arkansas governor

A senior U.S. election official revealed late on the 24th that former White House spokesperson and former President Trump‘s (Sarah Sanders) favorite, Sarah Sanders, plans to announce her candidacy for Arkansas governor on Monday (25).

The Associated Press reported that Sanders is the daughter of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who has been seen as a possible candidate since she left the White House in the summer of 2019, and Trump has publicly encouraged her to run for office. It is reported that she has been paving the way for this, continuing discussions with Arkansas Republican groups.

Before Sanders stated his candidacy, there were two other Republican primary contenders, former U.S. Rep. Griffin (Tim Griffin) and Arkansas Attorney General Rutledge (Leslie Rutledge). The incumbent Republican Governor Hutchinson (Asa Hutchinson) term will expire in 2022.

The newspaper noted that no Democrats have announced their intention to run for governor of Arkansas.
