Biden has just become the president of the United States and continues to “purge” the appointees of the previous president Trump, the chairmen of three U.S. federally funded international broadcasters were suddenly fired on Friday (22).
Sources said the acting chief executive of the U.S. Agency for International Media (USAGM), Kluster Zhao, has fired Victoria Coates, director of Radio Free Europe, Stephen Yates, chairman of Radio Free Asia, and Ted Lipien, chairman of the Middle East Broadcasting Network, only one month after they were appointed. Trump appointed former CEO of the U.S. International Media Agency, Parker, who was accused by the Democratic Party of turning Voice of America and its sister networks into Trump’s political propaganda machine, was asked to resign two hours after Biden took office last Wednesday (20).
Last Thursday (21), the director and deputy director of Voice of America were fired, while the president of the Cuban Broadcasting Office also resigned on the same day.
